Stories of Impact

Two Years Strong

“We can't believe it's already been two years since NC Adapted Sports was created on April 1st, 2022. It's been an incredible journey, and we're thrilled to share our progress with you…”

Happy Tears Poolside

“I am not much of a crier, but I was sitting there sobbing…as a mom it was such a meaningful experience for me.
It’s so amazing to have a community of people that get it and provide these opportunities!”

learning to swim for the first time with NCAS

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the water and know how to swim. That’s why NCAS is now offering evaluations for swim lessons and swim team for people with disabilities.

Building Bridges with the Community

Cofounders, Wes and Tony, realized that to have an adapted off-road cycling program that there needed to be trails accessible to off-road adapted cycles. NC Adapted Sports partner with Wake County Parks and Recreation to start the NCAS Accessible Trail Project. 110 volunteers and 574 cumulative hours later, NCAS has established 6 miles of off-road cycle accessible trails at Lake Crabtree Park and an additional 8 miles at Harris Lake County Park.

What did YOU
do this weekend?

On March 24th, three of NC Adapted Sports Adapted Cycling Team members competed in the Croatan Buck 50 race in the Croatan National Forest near Emerald Isle, NC. They competed in the adapted category, which was 22 miles of flat gravel riding. Athlete, Jordan (pictured), rode the Bowhead Rogue. This was his first race and he finished first in the Open Handcycle Category.

Michelle, 1st in Open Recumbent, and Wes, 1st in Handcycle, came in 30 minutes after Jordan.

It was a rewarding challenge that pushed the limits of all three athletes. Veteran Athletes from the NC Chapter of the Wounded Warrior Project also competed. There was great inclusion of adapted cyclists at this wonderful event.

At NC Adapted Sports, we develop your potential and help you reach your goals, whether it simply riding trails, finishing a race, or reaching the podium.

All levels of athlete have a home at NC Adapted Sports.
