ADAPTED CYCLING

The adapted off-road cycling program occurs at various locations depending on the skill of the cyclists. We ride the greenways, rail to trails, gravel trails and mountain cycle trails in the Triangle Area and beyond.

Cyclists of all levels are welcome and NCAS will help you find the best trail riding solution for you to ensure success.

We will train you to utilize the cycles to the best of your ability from transfers, gear shifting, navigating trails, and endurance conditioning. Our program includes three levels of training that progressively develop your cycling skill as well as becoming an adapted cycling lead rider. In addition, you will have the opportunity to participate or race in local cycling events in the Triangle Area and beyond to challenge yourself and become immersed in the cycling community.

ADAPTED CLIMBING

NC Adapted Sports, Catalyst Sports, and the Triangle Rock Club-Morrisville have partnered to offer adapted climbing for the Triangle Area and beyond.

Clinics are held on the 3rd Friday or Saturday of each month at the Triangle Rock Club in Morrisville, NC.

All athletes wear various climbing harnesses and can climb on their own power, be power belayed (assisted lift) or wear the Wellman Harness to use an ascender to pull themselves up a wall.

In addition, athletes can have side climbers to assist and encourage them up the wall.

If you are interested, register as a new athlete to get on our weekly program update newsletter.

ADAPTED SWIM EVALUATIONS

NC Adapted Sports has collaborated with the YMCA of The Triangle Area to ensure people with a disability know about the opportunity to learn to swim via YMCA Aquatic Programming. The goal of NCAS and the Y of the Triangle is that swimmers are part of group lessons, though like all swimmers, private lessons are sometimes that best starting place.

In addition, we are encouraging youth swimmers with a disability to join the summer swim teams to become a part of a wonderful community of swimmers and parents.

Adapted Swimming should not be a separate opportunity, it needs to be a shared experience with your peers.

Ages:

Swim Lessons: ages 5 & up

Summer Swim Team: ages 5 to 18

Questions on how to proceed, please contact Wes Hall at wes@ncadaptedsports.org

INDIVIDUAL ATHLETE CONSULT

At NC Adapted Sports, we want to help your entry into adapted sports to be as enjoyable as possible. Scheduling a individual athlete consult can help reduce apprehension when learning about a new sports.

We currently offer private session to get fitted and try out adapted cycling.

In addition, via the Taylor Family YMCA, we can connect you with their staff to learn about swim lessons that are open to people with a disability.

Consults are schedule with Wes Hall at wes@ncadaptedsports.org

NCAS ATHLETE EQUIPMENT ENDOWMENT

NCAS is committed to helping adapted athletes acquire equipment. Thanks to a generous $100,000 donation from the Rogers Family, we've established a local NCAS Athlete Equipment Endowment. This will allow us to offer grants starting in 2025, subsidizing equipment costs and helping NCAS athletes take their pursuits to the next level.

If you want to help support this initiative, please email Wes Hall at wes@ncadaptedsports.org
